NEW HYDE PARK, NY — Superstar entertainer Pitbull took center stage last week at a private benefit concert at Old Westbury Gardens that raised more than $2.6 million to support research initiatives at Northwell Health’s Feinstein Institute for Medical Research.

Led by its collaborative research enterprise, Northwell Health is reimagining how to treat illness, cure disease and keep people well through innovation. For over 20 years, Feinstein Institute researchers have made important discoveries in oncology, autoimmunity, neuroscience and genetics that translate into clinical advances. In just 12 years, the Feinstein Concert has collectively raised more than $16 million for research and has played an integral role in the Feinstein Institute's discovery of a new and innovative field known as bioelectronic medicine.

“Research spans across our geographic and clinical footprint, from Peconic Bay to Staten Island, and from Manhattan to Northern Westchester, and shares one common thread — improving the health and the lives of the people in our communities,” said Michael J. Dowling, president and CEO of Northwell Health. “Supporters of this event are helping fund today’s innovations and advance health care.”

"The generous support of our fantastic donor community provides the lift we need to make discoveries that will benefit our patients, and the world” said Kevin J. Tracey, MD, president and CEO of the Feinstein Institute.

Chris Wragge, co-anchor at New York's WCBS-TV, served as the event's emcee.
